Garden Work Day at Coralwood

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
The Coralwood School Foundation is hosting a community work day next Saturday, April 20th and we need your help! We will be cleaning up the outdoor learning garden area, nature trail, and installing new signs and equipment. While we do need some handy helpers, everyone does not have to be handy! More hands make lighter work, so please check out the Sign-up link and add your name if you can help. The timeframe will be 9:00-12:00. *Thank you to all those who have already signed up! We will send out an email before the event with more details of the day. We are in need of extra tools- if you have a drill, hammer, nails, screws, etc. please bring with you.
Does your company match your volunteer hours? We have added this event on Benevity, and we can add it to your company's giving platform if you contact [email protected]. Thank you for helping Coralwood School SHINE ON!

School Choice
If you have received an email stating your child has been chosen for a seat at Coralwood School through the School Choice Lottery, you
have 5 business days from the date on the email to accept the seat online.  If you do not accept the seat online within 5 business days, you will lose the seat and another name will be pulled from the wait list.  After accepting the seat online, you then have 5 more business days (total of 10 days from the date on the email) to come to Coralwood School to register your child.  If registration is not completed within 10 business days of the date on the letter, your child will lose his/her seat at Coralwood and another name will be pulled from the wait list.
Please call Keneshia Morris, Secretary, at 678-874-6005 with any questions regarding the School Choice Lottery process and seat acceptance/registration.

PreK at Coralwood into Kindergarten
Love PreK at Coralwood?  Move straight ahead to Kindergarten at Coralwood.
PreK parents- Coralwood offers so many advantages to our students attending Kindergarten.  Coralwood has lower student/teacher ratios than other elementary schools, with 2 full-time certified teachers in every Kindergarten inclusion class. These teachers are able to accelerate students who learn faster, as well as meet the needs of on grade level and struggling students.  Every child gets the attention that they need and deserve. We are hoping to be able to offer Spanish classes again next year if this year's pilot goes well and the Foundation can raise enough funds to continue this program.  Coralwood Kindergarten students are the "top dogs" in the school, being the highest grade level, they are looked up to by the younger students.  This builds tremendous confidence in our students!  Typical students who attend Coralwood Kindergarten are eligible to attend Hawthorne Elementary School for 1st-5th grade.   Questions about Coralwood Kindergarten?  Please feel free to reach out to me!

Mission & Vision

The vision of the DeKalb County School District is to inspire our community of learners to achieve educational excellence. Our mission is to ensure student success, leading to higher education, work, and life-long learning. We are making this vision and mission a reality – every day, in every classroom throughout the District.

Through community forums, focus groups, listening sessions, and more, we have engaged our stakeholders, refined our objectives, honed our procedures, and formulated a robust, highly-structured yet agile and adaptive strategic plan. We are pleased with the progress we have made thus far, and excited about the future – of our District, our community, and, most importantly, the 100,000+ students who daily bring to us their limitless potential.

The District has created performance measures, targets, and initiatives to ensure success in each goal area. A monitoring and data collection process has been developed, and rigorous progress check procedures have been implemented. At the local level, on-going training sessions are offered to all principals in order to support the work of aligning, refining, monitoring, and evaluating the continuous improvement efforts of each individual school.

As a community of learners, we are committed to excellence in everything we do – within the classroom and throughout the District. This continuous improvement process permeates each aspect of our Strategic Plan, and we are honored to partner with you to make it a reality for all.
